I'm your host, Emily

As a recovering attention hog, I thought creating a podcast where I listened to my mom-friends rather than yapping for 90 minutes every week felt like a good compromise.

My mom called me her "everything girl" because I've always liked being involved in lots of different things. As such, my list of past lives is extensive and includes things like:

  • Collegiate discus thrower

  • Trader Joe's sign artiste 👨‍🎨

  • Zambian nonprofit girl boss

  • Extremely anxious substitute teacher

  • Unofficial doula (never got certified, thanks COVID)

But really, the thing you most need to know about me is that I really do care. I care about how the people around me are doing. I really care that I'm being a good friend, wife, and overall person.

And as someone who has been obsessed with childbirth since infancy, I think we need to do a better job of caring about the moms in our lives! So this is a place to hold space for every birth story and create a supportive, welcoming pocket of the universe.

K, love you. Bye!

my favorite things!

Not your average birth podcast 💅

There are a lot of birth podcasts out there. Some are all about ✨ chakra alignment for labor ✨, and others feel like a medical textbook. Both have their place (I mean, I do love my chakras and a good evidence-based deep dive), but that’s just not how my friends and I talk about birth.

On The Labor Line, we’re loud, we’re silly, we’re sincere. One minute we’re laughing, the next we’re crying, and then we’re cracking another dumb joke. These are real conversations between friends—sometimes with kid noises in the background, sometimes with “wait, I forgot this part” moments. It’s raw, it’s honest, it’s the way real moms actually talk about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

If you're into heartfelt, hilarious, slightly chaotic chats about birth, you’re in the right place! I'm so glad you're here!
